Was it a Success?
Ignoring everything else, I believe that Doctor Strange was very successful considering it made 677.7 million on the box office with a 165 million budget. However, compared to other films such as Thor: Ragnarok or Spider man: Home-coming both, making over 800 million on the worldwide box office, it is a bit lower than expected. The film was a huge in China, Brazil and the UK. This is because Marvel's fan base power and how they are known worldwide, this is also because of the use famous actors such as Benedict Cumber batch. However, the film was generally received by the public very well.

Audience
The BBFC is a non governmental organisation that is responsible for the national classification and censorship of films showed in the cinemas. Doctor Strange was awarded with the 12A rating.
12A: 12 and older can view alone without a parent, under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a relatively new classification, introduced in 1989 and widely used in 2002. Films like Jurassic park or Star wars use this classification to appeal to a wider audience and get all age groups watching their films.
Merchandise:
Merchandise is used to promote the film and to make money off of children who want to purchase toys to play with as well as by adults who enjoy collecting action figures or toys. When films make money through not only the box office or from DVDs and TV releases, but also through toys, spin off shows and video game adaptations, this is called horizontal integration.

I, Daniel Blake
I, Daniel Blake is a British independent film directed by Ken Loach.
I, Daniel Blake is a film about a skilled working class man in his late 50s who must rely on welfare due to health complications leaving him unable to work. Despite this, the government denies his benefits. As he struggles through the appeal process, he develops a strong bond with a single mother with two kids who is homeless. Blake then stands up to the government in protest to his rights to be treated. Because this film is independent, this means that the film will make less money and will have a smaller audience. Ken Loach: Ken Loach is a British director who is known for his specific film styles that involves showing the working class part of England (involves a lot of strong regional accents) and focusing on social and political issues. Marketing
I, Daniel Blake used a system of disruptive marketing which were unconventional methods that film makers wouldn't usually use. While eOne was producing posters and trailers to market the film, they also:
I, Daniel Blake also became one of the years biggest free to watch film. eOne had teamed with both trade unions to hold hundreds of free screenings. They also teamed up with the mirror and tabloids which were more targeted towards the working class which offered free tickets to its readers and changed its logo for a day to match with the titles graffiti style font. This meant by the time I, Daniel Blake had hit cinemas, the movie had already been seen by thousands of people. Originally the film was released in 93 cinemas but due to the positive first week, making $540,000, it was extended to 150 in the second week and grew from there. |

Initial thoughts
I thought the film was very good. It does a great job with showing the harsh reality rather than sugarcoating the truth. The ending was quite unsatisfying however i believe that that was the goal for Ken Loach, showing the reality of how it really ends. This film voiced the many unheard voices of the working class of England and I believe that
