High album feedback:
The CD cover of high is full of meanings such as the color or background. The cover contains to celebrities widely known for their marijuana usage and already appeals to adults or marijuana users, which is why the whole album is highly influenced by marijuana which is why the CD cover is colored green, to represent the use of cannabis (which is why its named "high"). They also use dark colors like black to highlight the smoke coming out better and to make the colors in the title stand out and appeal to the eye. The beanie that snoop dogg wears are the type of beanies that stoners wear (The colors also represent Jamaica or "rasta" which is highly related to marijuana), which is why the clothing does actually relate to the cover, however the rappers don't wear those type of clothes, they only wear it in the cover to look like the average marijuana user, the style of clothing also makes them look cool to certain people and they sort of promote it as well because they are celebrities who are endorsing this style of clothing. They would definitely not appeal to kids but more to adults or marijuana users which is why there is a warning on the bottom right corner called the parental advisory sign on it. This sign is on many album or CD covers like this to warn parents before buying it, which means that this CD contains explicit content relating to drugs or drug usage and so it restricts anyone below 18+ to listen or purchase it, but usually the sign is ignored and bought by younger people all the time. They also have the same font size of their names on the cover which means that they have a similar background which makes them have a little community and also means that they have the same amount of fame. The size of the fonts also help the cover stand out along with the bright green colors. The main image consists of the rappers leaning against each other and mirroring their movements, the smoke is also clearly photo shopped in as the smoke looks exactly identical to each other however they may just actually be doing the same trick really well and in sync.

Analyse the cover HIGH to show how the different elements communicate meaning
In the High CD over there is an abundance of different elements and connotations like:
L2 starting to say why but needs more terminology
EBI: Use more terminology and explain in more depth
- Typography: in the CD cover they use a bug font with an almost vintage look on it and color it in a bright green color which symbolizes the use of marijuana, because marijuana is green.
- Non Verbal Cue: The cover shows Snoop Dogg wearing a Rastafarian styled hat because it comes from a country known for their stereotypical marijuana use, Jamaica. Wiz Khalifa is also wearing earrings to symbolize that he is part of the hip hop scene and denotes that he is rich. The mis-en-scene also shows the two wearing glasses to cover they're suggesting that they are high, because people eyes tend to start squinting when they are high. Another factor of this is that they're black, because people have a general stereotype that only black men rap which is true to an extent due to the black community inventing rap through history, however rappers like Eminem found it hard to get into the scene due to black people being in charge of the whole scene. There is also a stereotype that black people turn to drugs, and since the two are both black they are sort of making this stereotype true. However, people of the working class also have a general stereotype that they turn to drugs too. So this appeals to both of them because they have a lot of similarities between each other and form a bond enticing them to buy the cd.
- Verbal cue: The word high on the cover communicates to the user of marijuana because people who smoke it get high.
- Layout: They are leaning against eachother which suggests that they are friends or close, with big letters saying 'high' above them. The big font and bright green color catches the customers eyes and may interest them in purchasing it. Next to it is also the rappers name, this also may interest customers since Snoop Dogg and Wiz khalifa are two very big rappers known for their marijuana usage.

Beyonce vogue task
- Primary image: The primary image and the first we see is Beyonce. This is appeals to her audience of fans since she is famous. She is also black which diversifies the range of audience from white people to minorities. She also covers part of the masthead which connotes that she is more important than the magazine itself.
- Buy/sell lines: The buy/sell lines consists of motivational adverts and other things in the magazine. One in particular is the "form size 0 to size 20" which signifies that this high class expensive magazine contains a wide range of sizes also expands their audience from really slim people to overweight or obese people.
- Color Palette: Beyonce is wearing a a bright blue colored classy dress which showcases most of her chest which is very revealing. This relates to the male gaze theory where females may see beyonce having the perfect ideal body for black women. This also appeals to a lot of men.
- Direct address: In the primary image, Beyonce is looking at us and directly addressing to appeal to customers to buy the product.
Blog Feedback
Your blog is correctly laid out with the appropriate tabs. Zoella is bare looking: you need to analyse how she constructs her media, what she presents herself as and how she’s trying to access her target market. The work on your own vlog looks good- I will watch your vlog later and give you production feedback verbally. You need to make sure you work on the analysis is as detailed as your production as this informs you of how to be successful in that media. Advertising and Marketing is more precise which is great- your context work is good. You now need to link using your media terminology to level up and add precision to your work.
EBI:
• Zoella needs work: use the following subtitles to help you: Costume (including make-up), lighting, setting or location, content/subject of the vlogs, audience.
• Add media theory to your advertising- some of the subtitles above may also help you.
HIGH DIRT TASK: 7
WWW: much clearer than your first attempt, you start to use media language which is great. Getting there.
EBI: you need to explain how this links to stereotypes and how this sells the product: who is the audience and why do they find this appealing?
Clear blog that’s easily laid out: much more organized since my last mark. Production work shows some flair and some of yourself which is good. The photography lets you down a little in places but your composition shows thought and understanding of the conventions required for this media. Your feedback page is great with good interaction not only with my feedback but also with the exam technique. Try to maintain this now.
Diary/Feedback
• Facebook work not complete.
• No Meyers-Briggs results. Reflect on how the results affect what media you choose to engage with/consume.
Magazines
• Industry work needed in detail for magazines: who owns these publications. Do some additional research around what else they publish and how this affects the CSP.
• Your advert and front cover use the same image. This shows a lack of planning. You have 2 weeks to shoot a new ad or adjust the front cover. I like the image, not that much.
• Your article is a great idea but looks a little basic: maybe do some photoshopping of the image (cropping etc) and tighten up your text.
Television
• Ofcom is important: find an example where they have fined a company due to inappropriate content. What kind of content is considered inappropriate? What is the 9pm watershed? Why does the 9pm watershed exist- how did it come into existence?
• Develop your points on narrative structure. Why is it structured this way? Link to Uses and Gratifications theory in detail. If you’re watching Dr Who to be entertained, how is it fulfilling that role? Would all demographics be entertained similarly?

WWW • Wow teaser trailer. Really effective in black/white and the use of non-diegetic sound is fab! You’ve clearly picked up a lot on narrative as this is well sequenced to engage/intrigue. • Radio has required details but they are brief. EBI • Radio much too brief: to write “not very engaging” about radio 1, you must justify. Not engaging to who? Why? What’s wrong with it? What should it be doing to engage? • Details for Beast 1: 1 tiny paragraph per DJ is not enough. Do your research- this looks lazy! TIF • Effort in analysis and independent work; this is assessed in your final exams and you have nothing to revise from really as your notes are just opinions. Do the research. • Theory needed for grade 5: you need to include it!
